Freshly painted out in Akureyri, Iceland during the Akureyrarvaka Festival weekend is this beautiful mural by Guido van Helten. In his signature monochromatic style this portrait was "created in reference to Minjasafnið á Akureyri photo archives of local woman and [the] young actress ‘Sia’ in her young age from a 1970's theater production of Dimmalimm who passed away in 2010. The piece focuses on supporting continuing local theater productions in Akureyri, [which are] currently under question in the town." Be sure to watch the interview below which provides a nice insight on the artist himself and some more background on this culturally relevant mural which highlights the beauty and innocence of eyes.
