A Study of Warwick Triangle at Rush Hour

Early last month I had shared with you the beginning stages of a new series of pillars at the Early Morning Warwick Market in Durban, South Africa that Faith47 was working on. Organized by the UIA Congress to celebrate South Africa’s twentieth anniversary of re-birth by acknowledging Africa’s contribution to world architecture this now completed series coincides with their August event. Painted on supporting pillars of the Warwick Triangle Bridge she has completed four portraits of traders from the actual market along with two spirit animals, bringing a supportive energy to the people. With this series she really pays tribute to the people who make up this "informal economy" right down to rewriting scrawls and poems found on walls that have been written by stowaways. Be sure to watch this lovely video below to learn about the traders and market that inspired these images. Photo by the artist.
